About Us

Founded in 2007 at Tansian University, the Department of Microbiology has enjoyed sustained growth and has developed an international reputation in prokaryotic biology.  We have approximately 2 Faculty who lead vigorous and innovative research program in a wide variety of areas of microbiology.

• Our research mission is to expand our knowledge of the physiology, genetics, and ecology of microorganisms.  We maintain internationally recognized research programs in microbial physiology and genetics, cell biology, bacterial pathogenesis, microbial ecology and evolution, protein biochemistry, biotechnology and bioinformatics.
•  Our teaching mission is to prepare our students for their chosen professions by fostering independent learning, critical thinking, imagination and curiosity.  Rigorous coursework and original research are incorporated into the graduate and undergraduate curricula, and help prepare our students for careers in health-related professions, academia, biotechnology, industry, government, and other job sectors.
• The department of microbiology Tansian University has enjoyed and produced standard and quality students ranging up to 4.52 Gp. the varsity consist of many departments Microbiology as been outstanding since the university started. 
• Tansian university has been the best and young university in Nigeria ever since it been introduced, the varsity its self has enjoyed and giving out quality and literate learning to its students.
